Bodrum to Dalyan and Caunos

Description

Dalyan is a very popular small town not spoiled by buildings. The wonderful 7 kilometers sandy Iztuzu Beach, which is accessible by a 45 minutes boat trip, is one of the last nesting areas for the Caretta caretta, Sea Turtles. Between May and September, the female turtles come to the beach to lay their eggs, to keep check on them from time to time and finally to take their babies to the sea. A 15 minutes' boat trip will take you to the sulfur bath which is a different experience for many people visiting the city. The mud containing sulfur and other elements is said to be good for skin conditions and makes you feel refreshed and revitalized. Kaunos, the ancient city near modern Dalyan, was founded around the 9th century BC. We drive privately to Dalyan and get on on board on our private river boat. We leave at decent hours and enjoy the day. It's a relaxing day on a boat enjoying nature, history and culture.

  Drive to Dalyan

  We ll drive through Mugla passing Koycegiz Lake to Dalyan. Here we will go onboard on our private river boat.

  Visiting Caunos

  Sailing on the river boats through the maze-like passages of Dalyan Delta will surely remind you of "The African Queen" movie which one had taken in Dalyan on 1951. A stop-over at the magnificent Rock Tombs carved high in the cliff gives you the chance to get all the information about the resort. Pass through the Dalyan River – a nesting site for loggerhead turtles – on their way to the ruins of ancient Caunos and Iztuzu beach.

  And finally there is a fountain of youth: in the form of mud baths which was visited also many famous people. It is fun, it is rejuvenating and it, surely, is great chance for an unusual snapshot.
